MEET THE SOTB TEAM
We are a team of occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and relational practitioners who support children and the adults who hold them.
At Speak Outside The Box, we believe behavior tells a story.
A story about a child’s nervous system, relationships, and experiences. Our therapists work alongside families to understand that story so children can be supported through connection, regulation, and relationship.

Ashley, OTA/L
Director of Operations
Ashley is a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant who has supported Casey in the growth of SOTB for over eight years. As SOTB has evolved, she quickly became an integral part of the organization, integrity, and groundwork the practice has needed to bloom. Her dedication to this practice, the parents we serve, and the children on her caseload is felt within the walls of our yellow bungalow. ##
Ashley graduated from Keiser University in Tampa in 2014 and has been working with neurodivergent children for over a decade. While this mama now calls Lakewood Ranch home — and her son her literal everything — her professional heart remains deeply connected to the Tampa community through her work at Speak Outside the Box.
She is continuously grateful for her evolution as a practitioner within this space and how it directly impacts her understanding of herself as a mother, allowing her to better support and attune to the ever-changing needs of her child. Being a mom is her favorite gift, one that never stops giving or challenging.
Ashley’s gift stems from a deep, natural ability to see a child in the present moment and help them feel truly seen and heard, grounded in an integrated understanding of each child’s unique sensory system and capacity for connection. She believes meaningful progress begins with a regulated foundation. Her approach is strengths-driven, neurodiversity-affirming, and grounded in evidence-based practice.
As co-founder of the Hybrid Therapeutic Education Program, Ashley plays a central role in developing and implementing an innovative educational model intentionally designed for neurodiverse learners. She is committed to reshaping education through models that are developmentally informed, therapeutically grounded, and responsive to the learner.

We treat the body, nervous system, and relationships first, so higher-level connection, learning, and participation can follow.

Meaningful, Safe Relationships
The relationship between therapist and family is central to our work. We intentionally build trust through open communication, reflective conversations, shared insight, and genuine care.
A Note From Casey About SOTB
I have always been deeply curious about the space between connection and disconnection, and the space beneath behavior. My work began in speech-language pathology, but over the years it has evolved into something much broader: a commitment to understanding the many factors that shape a child’s way of being, including their nervous system, relationships, family system, and environment.
What continues to inspire me is the idea that when we look beyond compliance and concrete skills, and instead support safety, connection, and regulation, children unfold in ways that feel authentic and truly meaningful.
I am endlessly grateful to the families and teachers who have vulnerably invited me into their homes, classrooms, and inner worlds. Their trust shaped me. Their children taught me. And understanding neurodivergence from one child to the next opened me and shifted my perspective in ways I can never fully put into words (no pun intended as an SLP!).
Every program, framework, and offering within Speak Outside the Box has been born from what families have shown me they need, and from the courage it takes to build something different when traditional approaches and systems do not fully serve.
SOTB is not just a clinic. It is the culmination of years of listening, learning, refining, and creating in response to real children and real families. When I see a gap, I feel called to build a bridge, and thank the lucky stars for me, I have a team of phenomenal clinicians ready to support the shared vision.
At the heart of all of it all is relationship, nervous systems in conversation, growth happening in connection, and the belief that there is another way to support children, one that honors who they are, not just how they perform.
It is an honor to do this work. And it continues to evolve because the families who walk alongside us continue to teach us.
